Dog Blog A Day for National Pet Month – Animal Health Register
Question of the day (QotD) – What is the most recent dog related service you have come across and found huge value in?
For day 3 of my National Pet Month Dog Blog A Day, I connected with Kate the founder of the recently established Animal Health Register. I came across Kate late in 2020 and I really liked her mission for her business. 'To support your beloved pets by providing a service which allows you to choose rated, insured, and trusted professionals from honest reviews, from their actual customers.'
You can find the register here www.animalhealthregister.co.uk and keep up to date with Kate on the Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/animalhealthregister/
For this mini-blog series I am sending each blog collaborator a list of questions to get more of an insight into their mindset and their business. So, I put my questions to Kate and here is what she had to say.
How does your business/charity help dogs and their people?
The Animal Health Register is a directory of animal related businesses where customers can find animal care to suit their needs by reading past and current client reviews. We also want to provide a place where businesses can reach new customers to grow and develop.
What are your goals and ambitions for your business over the next year and how can we help?
My ambitions are to grow the business into a national company so that we can help people and their pets throughout the UK.
What was your biggest triumph from the last year?
The website went live in November 2020 so I will have to say that, I think. I am hoping for many more triumphs as the website builds.
What is your favourite part of your job?
Knowing that I am helping other people and their pets to find trustworthy animal care as well as providing a platform where businesses can grow their client base. I get a lot of enjoyment from knowing I am helping others.
What is the funniest thing that has happened in your job?
Whilst out promoting the Animal Health Register, I was at a livery yard and they had allowed my dog (Dudley) to bimble around whilst we chatted. Dudley never goes too far so I wasn't really paying too much attention when we heard shouting coming from inside the farmhouse. Dudley had taken it upon himself to go into their house and introduce himself (nose first) to the lady’s husband who had slipped a disk in his back and was lying on the floor resting before a hospital appointment later that morning. Dudley thought it was great having a human to play with. Thankfully, they saw the funny side and her husband is now on the mend.
What are your favourite things about your community of clients, customers and supports?
Their support and help and how willing to help each other they are.
If this wasn’t your job what would you do instead?
I am also currently a fulltime equine body worker so probably that but if I could magic up anything at all I would probably have a vineyard in the south of France and have loads of dogs and horses.
If you were to start a business again, what advice would you give yourself in general?
Don't take things to personally!
If you could be any dog, what breed would you be and how does that align with your personality?
My daughter says I would be a pointer because I am very busy and like to work but also love to sleep and be lazy on the sofa. We have a Pointer X called Dudley and he loves both of those things. (as seen above!)
What is the earliest dog related memory that you can recall?
There is a photo of me as a toddler pretending to ride our German Shepherd X called Casper. My parents tell stories of him sleeping under our push chairs and guarding myself and my sister as young children.
Name three things you couldn’t live without?
My animals, my friends and wine!
I have joined the Animal Health Register with many others, any of my past clients are invited to put a review on there for me or any other businesses listed that you may have used. Let’s help Kate make this every pet lovers first port of call.
