Dog Blog A Day for National Pet Month - Doggy Knits
Question of the day (QotD) – How many jumpers and jackets does your dog own?
Doggy Knits – Exeter based made to measure woollen jumpers for your four-legged friend.
I am thrilled to feature a lovely local lady called Hazel from Doggy Knits on Day 2 of my National Pet Month Dog-Blog-A-Day. I met Hazel at Stockland Lovell Manor in Somerset; she was having a great time on holiday with her horse. Little did I know that she also has the most amazing Boston Terrier at home and now thanks to lockdown #1 she has started up a company ‘Doggy Knits’ - hand knitting made to measure jumpers for your dog alongside her full-time job.
Follow her on Facebook https://www.facebook.com/hand.knits.by.hazel/ - so many cute photos.

For this mini-blog series I am sending each blog collaborator a list of questions to get more of an insight into their mindset and their business. So, I put my questions to Hazel and here is what she had to say;
What are your goals and ambitions for your business over the next year and how can we help?
To build my returning & new client base, continue to make quality jumpers & expand my offerings.
What was your biggest triumph from the last year?
Keeping up with my order book, I was fully booked to Christmas by mid-October
What is your favourite part of your job?
Seeing photos of my clients dogs wearing their jumpers & being given a challenge to overcome, such as recent order for a dog that does not like anything over their head so I came up with a cardigan format for them
What are your favourite things about your community of customers?
The clear love they have for their dogs & receiving their feedback on my products
If you could be any dog, what breed would you be and how does that align with your personality?
In my working life, I have been called a terrier as I don’t give up until I get what I want/need. So it has to be a Boston Terrier
What is the earliest dog related memory that you can recall?
My extended family have always had dogs, so I have memories of all these dogs as far back as I can recall.
Name three things you couldn’t live without?
Definitely my phone, I don’t know how we managed with only landlines in the 90’s. My horse as he keeps me working on & improving my riding, he is quirky & complicated at times so you have to ride him properly. Finally, my dog. I missed not having dogs after we lost our previous two to old age while ago. So 2 years ago I convinced my husband it was the right time to get another one & I really liked Boston Terriers,. We’ve owned him since a puppy & both love him, he’s great company as I’m currently working from home & keeps me fit exercising him everyday
If you want to see a vast amount of cute puppy dogs in jumpers do check out Hazels’ Facebook page. I was amazed by the vast range of colour options and designs (I love the cable knits).
