Dog Blog A Day for National Pet Month – Toad Hall Cottages
Question of the day (QotD) – Do you pick your holiday destination for your dog?
I pick my holidays with my dog in mind. I choose somewhere I think he would like to explore too. Sound familiar?
Today for my Dog Blog of the Day for National Pet Month, I am bringing you Toad Hall Cottages, a West Country holiday let agency with a go to attitude and a touch of luxury and class. I think my dog would like that!
What resonated with me when I looked over their brochure was there statistics, I am a numbers girl, I do love a good stat. So, when I read that 32,000 dogs have stayed in their properties over the last 5 years my little heart melted. Imagine, all those lucky dogs, 32,000 of them going on holiday with their family, exploring new destinations together. Life doesn’t get better than that for me.

I spoke with their company director, Sarah and asked her my questions.
How does your business help dogs and their people?
We encourage our property owners to accept dogs as they are part of the family these days.
What are your goals and ambitions for your business over the next year and how can we help?
To be prosperous, continue to grow and hope we can all recover from this horrific pandemic.
What was your biggest triumph from the last year?
Surviving the pandemic and not having to lay off any of our wonderful staff.
What is your favourite part of your job?
Working with a brilliant team of people. Ensuring happy property owners and guests holidaying in the cottages. The challenges of running a business and keeping ahead of the game.
What are your favourite things about your community of clients, customers and supports?
Ensuring happy clients - to include owners, guests and our brilliant Toad Hall Cottages team.
If this wasn’t your job, what would you do instead?
I would have enjoyed living and working in Africa with the indigenous animals.
If you were to start a business again, what advice would you give yourself in general?
Try to keep stress to a minimum. Sleep on major decisions. Grow slowly.
If you could be any dog, what breed would you be and how does that align with your personality?
Scottish Deerhound, living in the country, preferably with horses, hence racing round the countryside during the day and being a couch potato in the evening cuddled up to my favourite person and those I love.
What is the earliest dog related memory that you can recall?
The amazingly close bond that builds between a human being and their dog.
Name three things you couldn’t live without?
My dogs, my Toad Hall Cottages team and friends, a sense of humour
Toad Hall Cottages have a huge selection of holiday cottages throughout Cornwall, Devon, Dorset, Somerset and the New Forest. I love the little touches of luxury.
Too often in my experience ‘dog friendly’ accommodation turns out to be below par – perhaps in need of some t.l.c. and rated as dog friendly because it’s a bit tatty. Not with Toad Hall; Toad Hall Cottages see that you and your dog both get the luxury you deserve when you go away together.
