Horse Photographer, Dog Photographer, Chicken Photographer - yes chickens…
I am known for my horse photography for the most part, no surprise as I have been in photographing them since 2002. The dogs were a natural progression making their way into my photographs from 2008. The chickens, well, they are a relatively new addition to my repertoire.
I was approached by The Little Feed Company to create a gallery of ‘go to’ images for their website, social media and promotions.
Who are the Little Feed Company? You can check them out here. I felt drawn to working with them, I felt a kinship, their founder adores animals, is an entrepreneur, and most of all puts the animals first. What is not to like?
The Little Feed Company are dedicated to help improve the nutrition of horses, dogs and chickens (you knew it was coming).
Now I am pretty good at getting a horse or dog in position and with a lead rope or dog lead they can be positioned and held, I can edit out the rope later….
However, I couldn’t find a halter or lead rope for a chicken and it would be a pain to edit even if I could! So it was a process of place the chicken with a helpful assistant, a fast shutter speed and plenty of patience. The magic does happen, you just have to wait for it, and wait for it and yes, wait for it a bit longer whilst keeping very calm and relaxed, chickens are sensitive souls. It was great fun and I have learnt a lot about chickens. I am not quite ready to commit to owning some just yet but they, like any animal, are intelligent, full of character and love food!!
If you fancy a photoshoot with your chicken, dog, horse or even Alpaca or Guinea pig (that’s another story for another time…) get in touch for a chat.
